Receipt tracking automation is the use of technology to streamline the tedious, manual process of uploading packing slips to your ERP and preparing shipments to be received. It typically involves technology that can read (“parse”) scanned packing slips and ASNs, match them to an open PO, and upload them to your ERP.
Instead of having to individually print, apply, and scan barcode stickers to match packing slips to the right PO, you can simply set a large stack of packing slips to scan while you do other work. More advanced receipt tracking automation tools can go beyond attaching the documentation to actually using it to automaticlly set up your ERP to receive a shipment.
The most direct benefit of receipt tracking automation is time savings. By eliminating manual preparation to get packing slips uploaded to the right PO, documentation becomes much more efficient. Canals customers have experienced up to 50% time savings on receipt tracking.
Because it's so easy and automatic, paperwork typically gets processed sooner for any follow-up that's needed, such as for AP to initiate payment to suppliers or Purchasing to bring up any discrepancies with them. If we do not yet integrate with your ERP or accounting system, implementation is typically completed in 30 days or less.
