Purchase Order (PO) tracking automation is the use of technology to streamline the tedious, manual process of reviewing order acknowledgements from your suppliers to identify updates, changes, and delays. It typically involves technology that can read (“parse”) a PO Acknowledgment, match it against an open PO, and optionally integrate with your accounting system to automatically add or change important information like ship dates and item quantities.
More advanced PO tracking automation tools can go beyond order acknowledgments to handle open order reports as well, eliminating the need to go through them line by line and identify changes.
The primary benefit of purchase order tracking automation depends on your current process.
